December 7, 2026 | 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

@ New Fort Worth City Hall

Join the City of Fort Worth for an in-depth and interactive Development 101 workshop focused on two of the most critical pieces of any project: transportation and water and sewer utilities.

This free afternoon program is designed for developers, engineers, neighborhood leaders and anyone interested in how infrastructure decisions shape what gets built in our city. Through real-world examples and direct conversation with City staff, participants will gain practical insight into how roads and utilities are planned, reviewed and delivered.

Over three focused hours, City staff and subject-matter experts will walk through the requirements that come into play long before a project breaks ground, share best practices and answer your questions. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of what to plan for early, where projects tend to get stuck and how to keep yours moving.

This Development 101 program will focus on three core areas:

Transportation. Learn how the City evaluates a project’s impact on the street network and what that means for your development. This segment will cover how transportation requirements are determined, how they connect to the City’s long-range plans and what to consider early so your site plan and budget stay on track.

Water & Sewer Utilities. Understand how water and sewer service gets to a new development. City staff will explain how capacity is evaluated, when extensions or upgrades are required and how to coordinate with the City to avoid costly surprises late in the process.

Navigating the Process Successfully. Throughout the program, speakers will highlight common challenges, coordination tips and lessons learned to help participants anticipate next steps and reduce friction along the way.

Whether you’re a seasoned professional or simply curious about how Fort Worth grows, this workshop offers valuable insight and direct access to the City experts who guide these decisions every day.
