Development 101 Recap: Building Knowledge at the New City Hall

On October 21, the City of Fort Worth and the Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth welcomed developers, engineers, neighborhood leaders and community members to the new Fort Worth City Hall for the latest Development 101 Workshop. The free, half-day session brought together more than 80 participants eager to better understand how development happens in our city.

An Afternoon of Learning and Conversation

City staff and subject-matter experts guided attendees through three key topics that shape projects across Fort Worth:

  • Steps to Pre-Construction – A walk-through of the complete path from approved civil plans to breaking ground, with an emphasis on the permits, documents and coordination needed to keep projects on track.

  • Stormwater Policy and Permitting – A clear overview of regulations designed to protect both the environment and city infrastructure, along with practical guidance on compliance.

  • Recent Legislative Changes – Insight into how new state legislation is reshaping development ordinances and what those changes mean for future projects.

The workshop balanced detailed instruction with opportunities for Q&A, giving attendees the chance to get clarity on real challenges they face in their own work.

Why It Matters

Fort Worth is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country, and understanding the development process is key to ensuring that growth is smart, sustainable and efficient. By opening the doors of City Hall and connecting directly with residents and professionals, the City and REC of GFW are working to create a more transparent and collaborative development environment.
