On March 24, the Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth partnered with the City of Fort Worth to host another successful Development 101 Workshop at the new Fort Worth City Hall. The free afternoon program brought together developers, engineers, neighborhood leaders and community stakeholders to learn more about the policies and processes that shape development across our city.
Designed to provide practical insight and direct access to City staff, the workshop helped participants better understand how projects move from concept to construction. Through presentations, real-world examples and open discussion, attendees gained helpful guidance on navigating the development process while staying aligned with Fort Worth’s long-term growth goals.
Understanding the Development Process
City staff and subject-matter experts walked participants through several key stages of development including zoning and planning, building permits and inspections and urban forestry requirements.
Speakers shared how zoning policies guide development across Fort Worth, how permitting and inspections move projects forward and how urban forestry requirements such as tree preservation and mitigation play an increasingly important role in the development process. Throughout the program, presenters also highlighted common challenges and practical tips that can help project teams avoid delays and improve coordination with City departments.
Strengthening Collaboration
One of the most valuable aspects of Development 101 is the opportunity for direct conversation with the City professionals who help guide projects every day. Participants had the chance to ask questions, share experiences and gain insight into how the development process works in practice.
Events like Development 101 help strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors and support thoughtful growth across Fort Worth.
