Event Recap: Development 101 – Understanding IPRC, SSIP, Platting & Development Agreements

On April 28, the City of Fort Worth and the Real Estate Council of Greater Fort Worth (REC of GFW) hosted another successful session of Development 101—this time diving into four often-overlooked but essential elements of the city's development process: IPRC (Infrastructure Plan Review Committee), SSIP (Small Scale Infrastructure Program), Platting, and Development Agreements.

Held at the newly opened City Hall, the workshop welcomed developers, engineers, consultants, and CRE professionals for an in-depth, practical discussion aimed at streamlining project planning and approvals in Fort Worth.

Attendees gained clarity on the role of the IPRC in reviewing and approving infrastructure plans and learned how the SSIP can be a helpful tool for addressing small-scale infrastructure needs. The session also demystified the platting process and offered key takeaways for navigating development agreements more effectively. City staff shared recent updates, recurring challenges, and best practices for submittals—offering guidance that could help avoid costly delays and miscommunications during the early stages of development.

The session reinforced the importance of proactive coordination with the City and showcased the ongoing partnership between the public and private sectors to make Fort Worth’s development process more transparent, predictable, and efficient.

Stay tuned for future Development 101 workshops as we continue breaking down the process step-by-step—and helping Fort Worth build smarter.
