A Conversation on the Future of Fort Worth ISD
July 16, 2026 | 5:00p - 7:00p
@ Busey Bank
Fort Worth ISD is in the middle of a defining chapter, and we invite you to be part of the conversation. On July 16, join us for a Fireside Chat with Dr. Peter Licata, the newly appointed Superintendent of Fort Worth Independent School District, for a candid look at where our public schools are headed — and what that means for our city, our workforce, and the future of our region.
Dr. Licata stepped into the role in March 2026 following the Texas Education Agency’s appointment of a new Board of Managers and superintendent to lead the district. He brings deep experience in turning around large, complex school systems, most recently as Superintendent of Broward County Public Schools — the nation’s sixth-largest district — where he led the system to its first state “A” rating in more than 14 years. He began his career as a classroom teacher and coach and has served as a principal, graduate professor of educational leadership, and national presenter on career and technical education and innovation.
His stated North Star for FWISD is straightforward: every student reading on grade level, mastering mathematics, and graduating ready for college, career, or military service — in a system strong enough to sustain that success long after state intervention ends. This evening is your chance to hear, in his own words, how he plans to get there.
The conversation will be moderated by Dean Bobby Ahdieh of Texas A&M University School of Law, who also serves as Chief Operating Officer of Texas A&M-Fort Worth. Dean Ahdieh has been ranked among the most influential people in legal education and has led one of the most remarkable trajectories of any law school in the country. He is a thoughtful moderator with a sharp interest in the connection between education, talent, and the long-term economic health of Fort Worth.
The evening will open with networking, followed by a facilitated Q&A exploring Dr. Licata’s priorities, his leadership approach, and what real estate and business leaders should expect — and contribute — as FWISD writes its next chapter. Attendees will leave with a clearer picture of where our schools are headed and how our industry can play a constructive role.
